I was recently inspired by a friend on facebook who started posting one thing each day she was thankful for as she adjusted to moving from glamorous NYC to a small town in Oklahoma. I asked some of my girlfriends if they would be interested in doing it with me for 30 days and I am very glad that they were willing! It opened my eyes to things that I normally would not notice or give a second thought to. It was also really fun to read the things my girlfriends were thankful for.
Here are my 30 days:
Mon, Aug 8 - My trusty blender.
Tues, Aug 9 - Remembering childhood pastimes. [via googling how to make a cootie catcher]
Wed, Aug 10 - Being able to hear.
Thurs, Aug 11 - The reminder from my favorite comics (Rose is Rose) to just let things be.
Fri, Aug 12 - A support network.
Sat, Aug 13 - Knowing when it's time to retreat and do a media cut-down. [No facebook or hulu!]
Sun, Aug 14 - You.
Mon, Aug 15 - God keeping me safe from car accidents/hitting anyone.
Tues, Aug 16 - Slowly learning to appreciate the "natural" taste of foods.
Wed, Aug 17 - Having such a generous person as a sister.
Thurs, Aug 18 - Good endings to bad days.
Fri, Aug 19 - That He loves me anyway.
Sat, Aug 20 - A surprise visit from one of my favoritest people!
Sun, Aug 21 - The strength to face Monday!
Mon, Aug 22 - Sung Bong Choi! :*(
Tues, Aug 23 - Being inspired by reading the blogs of other TJCers.
Wed, Aug 24 - Finding something you thought for sure you had lost. [my Amex card]
Thurs, Aug 25 - Spontaneous walks on the beach after dinner.
Fri, Aug 26 - Unexpected (and undeserved) acts of kindness from strangers.
Sat, Aug 27 - Holding babies. :)
Sun, Aug 28 - Seeing God's helping hand in holy work.
Mon, Aug 29 - Getting ready in the morning to Andrea Bocelli's Canto Della Terra and Sogno.
Tues, Aug 30 - That my parents allow me the freedom to choose my own path.
Wed, Aug 31 - Having things to look forward to.
Thurs, Sept 1 - Encouragement through the elibrary.
Fri, Sept 2 - Where I live. [in the U.S., in California, and in W. LA]
Sat, Sept 3 - Self-realizations at YASC.
Sun, Sept 4 - The desire to serve.
Mon, Sept 5 - Reconnecting with lots of people!
Tues, Sept 6 - Satisfaction from getting things done.
There were days that it was hard for me to pick just one thing because there were so many things that I was thankful for that day. On other days, I really struggled to find something I was thankful for. On those days, it was a good exercise for me to really dig deep to find something I genuinely appreciated. There's always something though if you look hard enough.
I really encourage everyone to try it for at least 30 days!
