I recently cleaned out my office area (tossed out a bunch of old docs, magazines from tech conferences, & random restaurant menus) and organized my food stash & cabinets. Now that my space is decluttered, I have been thinking about livening it up a bit. So much of our life is spent at work, so why not make the office more attractive?
Someone in the office (not sure who) started a penny trail at my desk that others have been gradually adding to. My colleagues had been asking me what I was going to do with my newfound wealth. Ha.
So I decided to use those pennies to decorate a jar to be filled with candies/mints. (Are you surprised that a jar is somehow involved? hehe). I got the idea from one of my friend's engagement photo shoots. Besides a jar and some pennies, all you need is a hot glue gun and some twine!

Another easy way to make the office space more cheerful is with some fresh flowers. One of the previous directors in our division had her husband order flowers to be delivered to her office weekly. It was a small bunch of mostly wildflowers and it was really adorable, but oh man, that must have cost him a fortune. Good thing there is a hydrangea bush that grows alongside our building that is super productive. I love how the bush has various shades so I can pick a more purple, pink, or mixed bloom to suit my mood that week. I am not usually a big hydrangea person when I see it on the bush, but somehow when it's in a jar on your desk, I love that it's a bright ball of color! Especially because our office is very gray and industrial, the color really pops. :)
Thanks to Pinterest, I also found out adding sugar and bleach to the water will keep cut flowers fresh longer. Gonna try it!
Thank God it's Friday!
